The Humanology Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to destigmatizing illnesses that are commonly perceived in a negative light in society. Through the use of student-run blogs, as well as an interactive support forum, users can gain a holistic perspective of illnesses such as depression, anxiety disorders, or PTSD.

Positions are open for the Humanology Project this Spring Semester (2023). The application is extended until Februrary 3rd, 2023 (12PM Noon EST).

Writing Intern

Writers will be responsible for attending all official Humanology events, as well as writing up to four quality articles per semester and one “creative” piece (e.g., artwork, podcast, creative writing). Additionally, writers will be expected to produce pieces by the date assigned, as well as follow the writing and photo guidelines.

Outreach Intern

Outreach will principally be responsible for representing Humanology Project at events on and off campus for the purpose of connecting with campus officials, other student organizations, and the student body as a whole. The outreach intern is expected to have an open schedule and flexible availability to attend a wide range of events and communicate our values to the campus community.

Editors

Editors will be expected to fine tune the first and final drafts of articles, in addition to ensuring that sources are properly cited. Editors are responsible for encouraging writer improvement and facilitating discussions on articles during debrief week and sessions. Editors are expected to have fine attention to detail and a willingness to help others.

The initial conditions of a chapter and it's founders greatly influences its long-term success. As a result, we heavily invest in the selection and training of campus chapters and leaders.

Expectations and eligibility requirements are listed below.

The Humanology Project Chapter Founders: Eligibility Requirements

✓ A rising sophomore or junior at the time of founding (must be a rising freshman or sophomore during application cycle)

✓ A commitment to advance The Humanology Project's mission

✓ Demonstrated leadership skills

✓ Ability to motivate others

✓ Ability to persevere in the face of challenges

✓ Strong interest in mental health 

Basic Chapter Requirements

✓ Established as a university-recognized student organization on campus

✓ Undergoes chapter advising with the Stony Brook Chapter on a bi-weekly basis

✓ Submits an annual report at the end of the academic year
